Mary Lattimore Scores ‘This is Brighton’, Newport Beach Film Fest World Premiere

The Newport Beach Film Festival is the largest international cinema event in Southern California, as well as one of the region’s most popular and longest running film festivals. At this year’s 24th annual installment, This is Brighton, scored by Mary Lattimore (she/her), will be making its world premiere. Directed by Beth Aala and produced by herself and Caroline Waterlow, the film “is a coming-of-age sports documentary about Brighton Zeuner, one of the best female contest skateboarders of her generation. As skateboarding becomes an Olympic sport, this character-driven film reveals the anxiety and pressures of competition, effects of social media, and how a global pandemic upended the promise of a young skater destined to be the best.” (Newport Beach Film Fest)

“THIS IS BRIGHTON is a rare and intimate glimpse of the competitive skateboarding scene that very few in the world have experienced[,] but we also witness girlhood in all its joy and pain.”

This is Brighton makes its world premiere October 14th and will screen again on October 18th. For tickets and more information on the full festival lineup, you can click the link here.
