Marco Caricola Scores 25AV Film “Hilos En Hilos”

Composer, artist, and music producer Marco Caricola (he/him) has scored and co-created the audiovisual work Hilos En Hilos, a film directed by Laila Saber Rodriguez. The film is one out of 18 projects selected by 25AV, a Pan-European Platform for Audiovisual Arts and Performance, to be in the organization’s 2023 artist-collaboration program.

The collaborative project between Marco and Laila primarily explores spirituality, identity, and displacement, with visual elements such as the afterlife and playing board games as metaphors to reflect upon these themes. Using a mix of choral-like vocals, drones, and experimental synths, Marco’s score sets a somber and otherworldly soundscape that captures the surreality embodying the spirit of the film.

As part of the selected projects, Hilos En Hilos will be exhibited in three leading European arts venues: iMAL in Brussels, Triennale Teatro in Milan and Zirka in Munich. If selected as one of the top three finalists by 25AV, Marco and Laila will be invited to a 10-day artistic residency at iMAL and provide a live performance at the three spaces mentioned above.
