Bio

Greg Alsop (he/him) is a versatile musician, songwriter and producer known for his work writing songs for children’s television, and his creative drumming as a member of the indie rock band Tokyo Police Club. Born and raised in Canada, Alsop developed a passion for music at a young age, and has been working professionally in the industry since he was 21.

As the drummer for Tokyo Police Club, Alsop has played a pivotal role in shaping the band's signature sound. Known for his energetic and precise drumming style, he has helped establish Tokyo Police Club as one of the most influential indie rock bands of their generation. With their catchy melodies and infectious rhythms, the band has garnered a dedicated following and critical acclaim worldwide. Together they have released 6 albums, 9 Top 20 Singles and had the honor of 3 Juno Nominations.

In 2021, Alsop moved into the world of songwriting for children’s television. Drawing from his own experiences as a father, his compositions are often characterized by their driving beats, hooky arrangements and messages that he himself would want to pass on to his kids. His goal as a children’s songwriter is to make music that kids want to hear and that parents won’t mind hearing again, and again, and again.

In 2022, Alsop wrote and produced “Warrior”, the theme song for the DreamWorks Animation and FGF show Pinecone & Pony (AppleTV+) and went on to contribute several other original songs to the series. With “Warrior”, Alsop used the show’s both medieval and modern setting to craft an arrangement that layered traditional Renaissance instruments over a pounding, upbeat dance groove to deliver the show’s core message: That everyone can be a warrior, exactly as they are.

In 2023, Alsop along with collaborator Stacy Clark, wrote and produced the song “Checks & Balances” for Nickelodeon’s Well Versed, a series of animated music videos that aims to teach kids civics. The show gained national attention with First Lady Jill Biden announcing the series as part of National Civics Day and was a featured segment on Good Morning America.

His other credits in media include creating the singles “Everyday Hero” and “Cool As Ice Cub” for the PJ Masks brand and producing the theme song “Where The Enemy Sleeps” for Seasons 2 and 3 of the hit Wondery Podcast “Over My Dead Body”.
