Bio
A 2018 Emmy nominee for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Once Upon a Time), Cindy O’Connor (she/her) is an accomplished composer and performer for film, television, and theater. Known for her memorable melodies and emotional depth, she combines her love of orchestral music, pop/rock, vocals, and electronic textures to create unique musical worlds for each project.
Her music can be heard in all seven seasons of Once Upon a Time (Disney+), and her recent scores include romantic comedies The Professional Bridesmaid, Rip In Time, and The Blessing Bracelet (Hallmark), psychological thriller Red River Road (Amazon Prime), and the dark comedy Deany Bean is Dead (Amazon Prime). She co-composed a moody, electronic score with Mark Isham for the Starz series Crash, and contributed music to A Dog’s Journey and Amazing Stories (Apple+).
Her theatrical musicals include All That He Was, winner of the American College Theatre Festival and published by Concord Theatricals; La Llorona/The Crying Woman (Off-Broadway); the recent Chicago hit parody, Flies! The Musical (Pride Arts Center) and Forgiving the Franklins, a darkly comedic musical about sex, shame, and religion. Her choral and orchestral works have been performed by the Gay Men’s Choruses of San Francisco, Chicago, and Los Angeles; the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfonia de Puerto Rico, the Moravian Philharmonic, and the Boca del Rio Philharmonic.
As a performer she has sung on over a dozen film and TV soundtracks, and she spent four years touring as a keyboard player and singer with rock superstar Pat Benatar. She has performed as a singer and music director with Petra Haden at the Ford, the Getty, and David Byrne’s Meltdown Festival in London.
Cindy serves on the Board of Directors of the Society of Composers and Lyricists and currently runs the Mentor Program in Los Angeles. She is grateful every day for the chance to collaborate with talented artists to tell stories that touch people’s hearts and explore the wonders of the human spirit.
