‘Surrender’ To Open LA Asian Pacific Film Festival, Score by Tangelene Bolton

Surrender World Premiere at LA Asian Pacific Film Festival

Surrender, a feature film scored by Tangelene Bolton (she/her), will have its world premiere as the opening night film at the 2025 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF). The debut feature from director Jess Dang will premiere on opening night at the Directors Guild of America on May 1, 2025 to a sold out theater. A Q&A with the filmmaker will follow the screening.

In this poignant and gritty debut feature film, Surrender follows Naomi, a young Asian-American woman whose life is disrupted by her secret gambling addiction. As she navigates her struggles, Naomi confronts feelings of denial and shame, which affect her relationships with family, colleagues, and herself. Ultimately, she reaches a breaking point and must decide between a path of destruction or one of self-love.
