A Closer Listen is an online editorial that specializes in instrumental album reviews, with a niche and solid community base since its founding in 2012. In their most recent article ACL 2023 ~ The Year’s Best Film Scores”, they have listed composer Rebekka Karijord’s score from Songs of Earth alongside other notable scores such as Joe Hisaishi’s score from The Boy and the Heron, Robbie Robertson’s score from Killers of the Flower Moon, and Ludwig Göransson’s score from Oppenheimer.

“This documentary [Songs of Earth] score has already received Scandinavian honors, and we expect it to make an even bigger impact once Margreth Olin’s film is internationally released.” (A Closer Listen)

Songs of Earth has received several esteemed nominations in the final months of 2023, both for the film as well as its accompanying enchanting score. It is currently a contender for an Oscar for best International Feature and continues to receive recognition for the high caliber of work that Margreth Olin, Rebekka, and the whole team have put in.

We are proud of Rebekka and all that have worked so hard on this film!
